Rilmafazone belongs to a group of ring opening benzodiazepine analogues, known as peptide aminobenzophenone. It seems to be a precursor of triazole benzodiazepine. It has sedative and anti anxiety effects.
Rimazafeng is known as one of the "Japanese benzenes" because it was originally developed in Japan. It is a substituted heterocyclic 1,2,4-triazole triazolyl phenyl ketone.
Rimazafen is considered a benzodiazepine drug used in Japan for short-term treatment of insomnia. Schedule 1 of the 1984 Drug Regulations lists benzodiazepine as a prescription drug. However, Rimazafen itself is not benzodiazepine.

Limazafen is a water-soluble benzodiazepine technical substance used as a sedative and hypnotic neuropsychotic drug.
Sisino et al. (2008) studied the anxiety relieving effect of short acting benzodiazepine hypnotics (including Rimazafen) on mice. Their conclusion is that compared to diazepam as a control agent, these drugs have smaller doses and better effects.
Lil Mazafeng is considered to have great potential to influence the performance of horse athletes (Kentucky Jockey Council, 2015).
